Nonprofit Spotlight: For 25 years, MissionSAFE has been a vital presence for Boston’s highly at-risk and opportunity youth, empowering them to overcome the challenges of poverty, violence, and systemic inequities. At the heart of their work is a trauma-informed approach that recognizes the profound impact of ongoing adversity and meets young people with empathy, safety, skill-building and unwavering support.
MissionSafe, a 2024 Leadership Acceleration Program (LAP) participant, provides safe spaces where youth, ages 11 to 24, work on personal growth, educational improvement, leadership, critical thinking, financial literacy, job readiness, and experience horizon-broadening trips, community service, civic engagement and paid internships. Their work doesn’t end there—together they target the root causes of inequity, creating a ripple effect of change that strengthens families and communities.
