You know that you and your organization is making a difference but how do you get others around you to know? Showing impact helps to not only attract financial support but also people to join your organization as staff or volunteers.

In The Chronicle of Philanthropy's September issue, senior editor Lisa Schohl outlines 10 Dos and Don'ts to Showing Impact:

  1. Define what impact means

  2. Decide what to measure

  3. Allow time to lay the groundwork

  4. Don't let potential costs hold you back

  5. Blend qualitative and quantitative data

  6. Include engaging and informative visual elements

  7. Be selective and strategic of what you share

  8. Put your data in context

  9. Don't start over every year

  10. Don't share only good news
